Juan Claudio Vega, Procurement, Maintenance and Logistics

Juan Claudio Vega is native born and raised in the region being the descendent of the original colonists who first came over from Argentina.

He is a real “gaucho” and the person that best knows the nature and physical aspects of the area. He is responsible for all the maintenance and logistics and all the small details which result in the smooth operations of our lodge.

Juan Claudio has largely built the lodge with his own hands and his skills as carpenter, plumber and builder are reflected in the native woods and personal touches throughout the lodge. The remote location of the lodge makes Juan Claudio essential since “normal” technical services are not at hand and he has evolved into a multifaceted technician.

Everyday he provides us with energy and enthusiasm, telling us Patagonia stories as sharing his knowledge of nature and the area that is highly valued by both our visitors and staff.

We cannot forget to mention that Juan Claudio is also an incredible chef when barbequing the Patagonia whole roast lamb at Picacho Lodge. Claudio has his own secret recipe and techniques which never cease to delight our guests with a truly unique culinary experience.
